Tyler Gordon
Co-Chief Executive Officer
Tyler joined BaseCamp as Co-CEO in 2022 and oversees marketing, finance, and franchise development. Prior to joining BaseCamp, Tyler spent over a decade as a private equity investor and helped set the strategic direction for companies across a wide range of industries. Tyler received his MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar and a Loeb Fellow, and graduated with honors from Harvard College with a BA in Economics.
Zach Gordon
Co-CEO
Zach joined BaseCamp as Co-CEO in 2022 and is responsible for our operations and technology departments. Prior to joining BaseCamp, Zach was Senior Director of Strategic Planning at Restaurant Brands International (RBI), the global franchisor of Burger King, Popeyes, Tim Hortons, and Firehouse Subs. Zach received both his MBA and BA from Harvard.
Mel Green
Chief Technology Officer
With over 15 years of experience as a software engineer and leader, Mel has developed various software products including embedded applications, desktop tools, distributed systems, and cloud applications. He has built and led teams at organizations from small, scrappy start-ups to large, enterprise-level corporations. Mel joined BaseCamp Franchising as CTO in 2022 and has been instrumental in taking our capabilities in technology to a new level. Software and technology play a core role in driving success for our franchisees and support a meaningful competitive advantage for our stores.
Craig Smith
Chief Financial Officer
Craig joined BaseCamp in 2013 and leads our finance, accounting, and bookkeeping efforts. Through BaseCamp’s bookkeeping service, Craig helps new and existing franchise owners with a range of accounting, financial, and business development projects. Craig has a BS in Accounting from the University of Utah and has multiple decades of experience across public accounting, the oil and gas industry, and the audiovisual industry.
Joslin Wright
Chief Experience Officer
Joslin joined BaseCamp in 2013 and is a critical point of contact for both BaseCamp’s employees and our Kid to Kid and Kid to Kid franchisees. Since joining BaseCamp, Joslin’s responsibilities have included Director of Administration & Compliance and Director of Operations. Prior to joining BaseCamp, Joslin served as lead paralegal and office manager for the Utah office of Hall Prangle and Schoonveld, LLC, a Chicago-based law firm.
Alison Lair
Director of Franchise Development
Alison joined BaseCamp in 2023 with over a decade of franchise experience and is passionate about empowering entrepreneurs to succeed. As the Director of Franchise Development, Alison is dedicated to onboarding high-quality franchisees and guiding them to success by helping them understand the unique opportunities within Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid. Before joining BaseCamp, Alison worked in franchise development at Threshold Brands focusing on the growth of several home service brands.
Taryn Watson
Head of New Store Operations
Taryn joined BaseCamp in 2022 with over a decade of hands-on experience in operations and franchise management in our stores. Based in Dallas, TX, Taryn also currently owns an Uptown Cheapskate store in Richardson, TX, which is one of the top performers across the Uptown system. Taryn is dedicated to driving success for BaseCamp and its franchisees through collaboration and innovation.
Katie Clifford
Marketing Director
Katie Clifford joined BaseCamp in 2023 and leads our marketing efforts, specifically focused on digital, promotional, and new store marketing. Katie also works closely with our creative team to build effective in-store campaigns. Katie has brought a level of sophistication and depth to our marketing efforts, with a wealth of experience at iconic brands like PUMA, The North Face, and the US Olympic Team.
Ian Wambold
Creative Director
Ian has over 17 years of experience in the creative industry, collaborating with Fortune 500 companies such as Henry Schein, Disney, Lucasfilm, and Warner Bros. Since joining BaseCamp in 2023, Ian has played a important role in developing the creative strategy for Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid. Working closely with both BaseCamp’s internal teams as well as franchisees, Ian focuses on translating creative development into growth in both sales and profitability for our stores.
Meet Our Founders
For over thirty years, the Sloan family has helped pioneer the resale industry in both the United States and abroad. Shauna and Brent Sloan opened the first Kid to Kid store in 1992 and their children Chelsea Sloan Carroll and Scott Sloan founded Uptown Cheapskate in 2008. Brent and Chelsea currently sit on our Board of Directors and the family remains actively involved in setting our long-term strategic vision. Collectively, the Sloan family also owns and operates a growing network of over 30 Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate stores across the United States.
